David tragically passed away, and his brother, Kerry Von Erich took his place at Texas Stadium in front of a record crowd of over 40,000 fans. The match took place on May 6th, 1984 in the main event of the first Von Erich Memorial Parade of Champions. In the end, Kerry Von Erich defeated Ric Flair to become the youngest NWA Champion in history.
