Mickey Goldmill retired from boxing in 1947 with an impressive record of 72-1. He later opened his own boxing gym in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There, he trained many boxers including "The Italian Stallion" Rocky Balboa. Mickey trained Rocky for his bout with the heavyweight champion, Apollo Creed. Mickey trained Rocky once again for Rocky's rematch with Creed in Rocky II.
